Mariam Nikravech studied political sciences in Sciences Po Lyon, France with a focus on monitoring and evaluation of public policies and on social development policies.
She worked as impact evaluation research manager at the University of Mannheim and in several consultancies specialized in the evaluation of development projects in developing countries. She conducted studies on education and life-skills training interventions in Ethiopia and in South Asia.
She is a PhD candidate at the TU Berlin since November 2018 and works since January 2019 at IBBA as research assistant in the project FoodLabHome and joined in October 2019 the EU-Project SUSINCHAIN (Sustainable Insect Value-Chains).
Mariam’s primary research interests comprise global food systems and food value chains as well as sustainable development policies. As a combination of her research interests, she investigates the case of public policies tackling food waste and promoting sustainable lifestyles with a special focus on consumer’s food waste and the acceptance of insects as food in Europe. Among others, she evaluates the effect of education and nudge interventions aiming at reducing food waste at consumer’s level.
Methodologically, she has great interest in causal inference, but also into conducting mixed methods research, combining experiment and public policy qualitative research.
