Dr. Jennifer Zimmermann has been chief coordinator of the project TUB Teaching 2.0, which is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), since March 2020 (07/2019-12/2023).

She graduated with honours from the Universities of Mannheim and Paris (2004-2009) and received a teaching degree in German studies (major), French studies (major) and Spanish studies (minor). Before, during, and after working on her PhD project in literary and media studies, Discourses of shame in Günter Grass’s narrative fiction (2010-2014), she held a position as Academic Staff Member at the German Studies Department of the University of Mannheim. Intermittently, she worked as a guest lecturer (i.a. Charles University, Prague), did internships (e.g. at the Günter-Grass-House in Lübeck), and was funded by the doctoral scholarship of the Landesgraduiertenförderung Baden-Württemberg for the duration of two years.

Between 2017 and 2019, she worked as coordinator of both the subproject and the overall project “Know how to teach: Acquiring basic decision-making competencies for adaptive teaching practice” at the Free University of Berlin, a project also funded by the BMBF and its programme “Qualitätsoffensive Lehrerbildung”. In addition, she became women’s representative of the Dahlem School of Education from April to August 2018. In order to deepen her expert knowledge concerning the advancement of women in research as well as concerning equalisation, Jennifer Zimmermann worked as coordinator of the Graduate Programme Digital Transformation (DiGiTal) at the TU Berlin from January to March 2020. The project DiGiTal is a common programme of 13 Berlin-based universities. Its purpose is to advance female researchers and artists aspiring to a university chair within the field of digitisation.

Within the project “TUB Teaching 2.0 – Innovative career entry, professional and research orientation in career-related teacher training”, Jennifer Zimmermann’s responsibilities are coordinating the overall project, accompanying research proposals within the overall project and subprojects as well as their interlinking, networking and connecting  tasks and (academic) activities with partners within and outside the project, quality management and project management, finances and controlling, communication within and outside the project, knowledge management, developing connective and stabilizing strategies as well as reporting and public relations.

As a scholar in literary and media studies, she is a member of numerous workshop teams and academic societies regarding teacher-training and research in the field of school improvement.
